The Art of Flirting

1. Flattery

Flattery is one of the main tools of any flirt. If used correctly it can be dynamite.Nearly everyone enjoys getting compliments; the art of really good flirting is to choose exactly the right thing to flatter someone about. What is the right thing? Ask yourself what strikes you about the person you are intending to flirt with… then ask what area of his or her person, accomplishments, or activities is less likely to be remarked upon. You will both surprise and delight them if you choose something less obvious to compliment them on.

2. Say Hello with Energy

When you say hello, pretend that there is an electric current pulsating through your body just for a second. How you say hello can influence how you are perceived. Practice it. Make it sound like you are happy to see them. Put a little sparkle in your voice, or a lilt; but keep the overall pitch low.

 

3. Shake Hands

Shaking hands is an opportunity to touch the other person and should not be passed up. Reaching out, touching a hand, holding it, squeezing it, and letting go are all very sensual, tactile, personal activities. A good handshake requires a firm (but not strong) grip with energy. Focus on the sensation; perhaps try a tiny squeeze just before ending.

4. Eye Contact

Direct eye-contact can be extremely effective and powerful but should not last for more that a few seconds at a time. Eye contact establishes intimacy and it can be intrusive. The power with which you lock eyes for the first time will determine the starting level of the conversation. If you lock eyes in a tentative fashion, expect a tentative conversation. If you feel a thunderbolt, fantastic! But be aware that overly sexual or inviting eye invitations are the main cause of misinterpretations of motives between two people.

5. Ask Questions

Everyone likes to talk about themselves. Don’t ask anything too personal and don’t “interrogate” them; simply ask interesting or unusual questions…and listen to their answers.
